WELCOME TO OUR FARM

WELCOME TO OUR FARM

Welcome to End of the Road Farm & Studio!

Why the name “End of the Road”?

We’ve been asked this a few times by fellow farmers and business owners. Some think it’s a pretty cool name, while others think it’s a bit morbid. Hmmm, hadn’t thought of that until it was brought up.

We have to take a quick trip back to 2017 when the farm was started over at Darwin’s parent’s farm. We started off by making a list of different names we thought might be cool. I’m sure you may have struggled with this at times whether it’s coming up with a cool name for a pet or a name for a business. Some of the names we came up with were Lost Acre Farm and Found Acre Farm, these were from a recent land survey where it was discovered they actually didn’t have their perimeter fence near the property line. In fact, they had shorted themselves an acre of land. I can’t remember all the different names, I think we had a total of 25.

The only way to get to the farm, in Alabama, was to drive into Mississippi and then back into Alabama to the farm. So we jokingly said “let’s call it ‘You Can’t get there from here farm'”. As we thought about it we discussed the fact that the road dead ends at the farm and that our house was the last house on the road. The road that use to go over to Alabama had been cut off by a logging company years ago.

Hey! That's it!

That’s it! We’ll call it ‘End of the Road Farm & Studio’, the studio is for the pottery I make but we’ll save that for a different post.

Why did we keep the name when we moved? Well, we liked the name and in order to get to the farm house you have to go up a drive way that is about a quarter of a mile long.
